CSF Poster: Do not neglect children with visual impairment and blindness
Child sight foundation was established on 30th December 2002 as a result of extensive collaborative field research and service provision by the Childhood Blindness Project in Bangladesh by a group of ophthalmologists, eye care workers, social workers, experienced eye care programme planners and civil society members.
Child Sight Foundation aims to eliminate avoidable childhood blindness and to create an inclusive, right-based and barrier free society for children with unavoidable blindness and vision related disability.
Main activities of Child Sight Foundation will be to develop comprehensive services for children including health education, community awareness, self help group formation, primary eye care, linkage with secondary services, specialised tertiary eye care services with training facilities and human resource development for all levels of staffs in the team.
VISION 2020 strategies will be followed to control priority eye diseases in children particularly childhood cataract and nutritional blindness, to enhance infrastructure and technology and to develop human resources. A right-based approach will be taken to address the disability issues in children. Partnership and empowerment will be the focus of all activities of the foundation at all levels in line with the concept of primary health care.
